"Tara is an amazing trainer to work with. She is helping us bring out our dog's full potential. She is patient and uses fear-free training, which is important to me. Tara also does free virtual canine summits on social media which every dog owner can relate to. Highly recommend."
"Tara Martice is the best fear free dog trainer in this town. She really cares about each individual animal's success, and it shows through in her work every day. She is very knowledgeable about each dog breed and their needs, and patiently helps each owner through whatever problems they may have, while keeping things positive throughout. As an in home pet sitter, I am constantly running into issues. As my mentor, she helps me through each situation with so much ease. I recommend her to all of my clients, because I know the outcome will be great! "
"Tara has been an immense help for us and Gus. Her direct approach - calm, clear, concise, consistent - has made working with Tara so enjoyable for us. She demonstrates a skill while explaining the goal and then helps you practice while giving great direction. She suggested the location based on her experience and arrived ahead of us. We felt that we got a lot pot of our training session and are excited to continue working with her. We highly recommended her. "
"This girl knows her stuff! Highly recommend her and True North Compound. They are there for your fur babies to enjoy.
I attended the "save your hands" event. Tara is so knowledgeable and gives you different scenarios we might not even think of. Amazing job!
"Tara is fantastic! We reached out to her a few years ago about our husky x german shepherd being dog reactive. Since then we have used her advice and have successfully integrated a foster puppy into our home. We are amazed by the progress and success of our dog Tonto, all thanks to Tara! "
"Tara is very down-to-earth but very professional as well. We were lucky enough to have two training sessions with her while she was on Vancouver Island recently. We learned so many amazing tips from her that will continue to help us with our border doodle's behavior. We are going to be better dog owners because of the knowledge we received from her. Thanks, Tara...you rock!
Lynda, Leo and, of course, Lucy."
My husband and I did a joint session with Tara and our two dogs - a husky with no recall and a black lab with strong reactivity. She was familiar with our dogs before the session even began thanks to her in-depth online assessment we filled out beforehand. She was fantastic to work with, direct, to the point, and very professional. We covered a ton of ground, going over leash handling skills, grounding, marking behaviors, how to reward for behavior more effectively, recall practice, and food-motivated distraction from reactive situations with other dogs. She even offers online support after your session. We're so thankful she offered classes while on her trip to the coast and will definitely be booking when she's in the area again!
After trying several trainers using aversive training we took a chance with Tara and she was an absolute game changer for us. On her first visit, she blew us away with her knowledge of dog body language and showed us firsthand how force-free was exactly what we needed in dealing with our anxious/fearful/reactive 2-year-old bully. She was so patient and worked with each member of our family. She is patient and calm, and always available for a chat when things get hard. We used to dread the warm weather and all the triggers it brought out (people, dogs, bikes etc) but now those things just add to our daily wins and we look forward to walking him. There’s no one else I would want working with our dog.
"A total 5-star review is deserved. We have a houseful and first things first her energy is exactly what you want in a dog trainer. She gave so many tools and if you’re willing to learn with the resources she gives you there is so much insight available to be had. I tried to be a sponge and we got so far really fast. Second.. the aftercare, support is amazing. She doesn’t forget about you after a consult and move on, she has helped us tweak, and work with ripples in our life causing backstepping with no judgment and only help sent your way. We have 3 dogs all with their own issues. We are getting so much under control that we would have never made it this far without her insight. Also…. DO THE READING! When Tara isn’t there the information resonates and makes every step easier."
"I’ve had a three-year-old husky mix, he has dog/animal reactivity. We had a consult and learned that I was the cause and reinforcing my dog's reactivity. Tara is a good teacher, we had really wonderful experience with Tara." Now in China."
"I’ve had a really wonderful experience with Tara so far. She has a natural presence with dogs and from the first encounter with my puppy she was able to gain attention and focus. Tara is a good teacher: modelling, role-playing, observing and providing feedback. Lots of valuable resources as well. I highly recommend Tara if you are looking for dog training support"
